Current Issues with Cloudflare Tag Gateway
While promising, Cloudflare's Tag Gateway has significant limitations that make it almost unusable for production environments.
While my first impression of the Cloudflare Tag Gateway was positive, there are some current issues that make it almost unusable.
Major Limitations
- If you enable the Tag Gateway it is added to your main domain and all subdomains. Which means that your GTAG or GTM is added to all.
- It is impossible to disable the Tag Gateway on a per subdomain basis or path basis. So for example it will also be included on the administrative backend of your website.
- An issue that a client reported to me was that they saw all my Cloudflare domains in their Tag Gateway. This is a privacy issue and should not happen.
These limitations severely restrict the practical application of the Tag Gateway in production environments where granular control is essential.
